Hacettepe University Turkish Studies Institute was founded in 1992, within the scope of a law numbered 2547. Until 2002, it has existed in a passive condition, lacking of administrative organization and structural equipment.
In 2003, important changes occurred both in terms of place and administrative organization. With the formation of the Institute Committee and the changes made on the administrative organization, even if limited, it speeded up the activities in its own place by completing its physical structure and became active.
Within the structure of the institute, Turkish Studies department started its activities with a decision by Higher Education Executive Committee dated on 29.01.2004.
